L.E.A.P.: Leadership, Ethics and Purpose

About L.E.A.P.: Leadership, Ethics and Purpose
Leadership, Ethics, and Purpose (L.E.A.P.) is a Pre-Orientation program co-sponsored by The Program for Leadership and Character and the Office of Leadership Engagement, built on one core belief: you are already a leader. The question is, how do you want to lead? L.E.A.P. invites incoming students into a transformative experience before the first day of classes, creating space to explore who you are, what you value, and how you want to show up for yourself and others at Wake Forest. Through intentional dialogue, character and leadership formation, and StrengthsFinder exploration, students begin to shape a leadership identity rooted in who they are rather than the position they hold.
Over four days, students engage in experiences designed to develop self-awareness, leadership, and practice purpose-driven leadership in real contexts. From strength-based conversations to virtue ethics conversations to rope courses at Crossnore, each day builds toward a fuller picture of what it means to lead with integrity, courage, and purpose. Students will also connect with campus partners across Wake Forest, exploring the communities, resources, and networks that will support their flourishing throughout their first year and beyond.
L.E.A.P. is dedicated to helping students cultivate a sense of belonging and become as they transition into the Wake Forest community. Through shared meals, late-night activities, and small group conversations led by student mentors called LEAPDERs, participants build meaningful relationships with peers and upperclassmen who share a common desire to grow. You will leave L.E.A.P. knowing how to navigate campus, having named your leadership intentions for the year ahead, and having found your people before the semester even begins.
